Witches Night Out

Tuesday was the monthly meeting of the Witches Night Out group. Mainly members of the local Wicca community, but also many individuals from Wichita's Pagan community. Since this was the last meeting before the May Day celebration on Sunday, it was a large group. This was the first one that I have attended. It was a lot of fun. There were some many there that I already knew, I was kind of surprised, although, I guess I should not have been. The longer that I get involved in "alternative" life groups (Gay, leather, BDSM, Pagan, artist...) the more I see the same people in a lot of those groups.
When I sat down one of the lesbians I have not seen in quite a while ran over, gave me a big hug and said "A Bear! I love bears!". I asked if this was the Witches Night Out and she looked at me and said, "I' glad to see you finally coming out of that closet." I was a bit taken aback. I don't believe that I have every professed any organized religion. *sneer*

The May Day on the Park is going the 12th annual celebration of Beltane. I started going to the May Day festivals about 6-7 years ago at the invitation of one of my Mah Jongg buddies lothithil. I had such a good time, I think that I only missed one. Being me, I try to be different, unique, weird, yet pleasing. One year for the May Day potluck picnic I brought sushi. This year I am going to bring stuffed grape leaves (meatless) with some hummus and pita.
If the past years that I have been going to the May Day fest, I have declined to dance the May Pole. I think this is the year I will join the dance!
