Question Month Q&A: #7

If you could change one aspect of society what would it be and why would you choose that particular aspect?

This is a dilemma of a question. There are so many things that are hinged on other things that just changing one, could possibly make matters worse.

As far as the American society, I think that the one thing that I would change, if I could, would be the political party system. The party system is such a divisive and fruitless thing. The Democrats hate the Republicans and visa-versa. The “other” parties, (Greens, Communist, Reform, Libertarian, and Independent) have no chance to do anything. Even when the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches are a majority one party, they still get nothing done. I think that it is unfair to the American people to create these artificial boundaries that are more a hindrance to our society than a help. If we were not stuck in this concept of “you have to vote for so and so because you are affiliated with their party”, we might actually elect people based on what they stand for as individuals and hold them accountable. Let them choose something else to group themselves by, like; skin color, religion, sexual orientation or the like.
